I have been trading in stock market for more than 5 years now. Though I have been trading, most of the time I made just enough to keep me floating and go on with my trading, mostly because of the high brokerage that is being charged by different brokerage houses I was dealing with. I trade mostly in Nifty Options. I used to give Rs.95 per lot early, which got reduced to Rs.15 per trade after a gap of 4 years! I felt like a fool for not doing enough research on this subject, before dealing with high volume trading. For a day I gave even Rs.95000 rupees as brokerage, where I gained Rs. 109000 and finally ended up with just Rs.14000. Unbelievable! isn't it? But that a fact.
I have got introduced to Zerodha few days back, after being bugged up with those stock brokers who charge very high brokerages. I came across to Zerodha through a discussion forum. I felt shocked and excited, after hearing that Zerodha charges just Rs.20 per transaction. True, its not per lot, its per transaction. Just for a calculation purpose I calculated my single days brokerage with ICICI direct. I was amazed to see I need to pay just Rs.420 in Zerodha, where I have to give Rs.38700 to ICICI!! Its true because Zerodha was providing zero brokerage trading and they charge only Rs.20 per transaction. The charges taken by NSE and other stamp duties are correspondingly reduced.
I was quick to respond. I just pushed an application through one of the friends in the discussion forum. I got an application forum by email. I filled it up after taking print out of around 50 pages and made a payment of Rs.200 through cheque. The form was couriered to the Zerodha Bangalore address. The account got opened the very next day. It was as simple as that.
Now I can trade in Zerodha for a break even cost as less that Rs. 0.05 in Nifty Options. Its just amazing to buy Nifty options in dips and sell it off in seconds with very good profit in hand.
